Crash

Crash
Everybody knows Crash Coogan, seventh-grade football sensation. He's been moving down everything in his path since the time he could walk-and Penn Webb, his dweeby, vegetable-eating neighbor, is his favorite target. After all, Webb's not just a nerd, he's a cheerleader too. Crash and his best buddy, Mike, can't think of anything more hilarious than making Webb's life miserable. But Crash starts to realize that Webb has something he may never gain, no matter how many touchdowns he scores. And when Mike takes a prank too far, maybe even for Crash, the football star has to choose which side he's really on.

4.How is Penn different than other kids?

5.When do the events in the first eight chapters occur?

62 comments:

  1. 3. According to the book, Penn wants Crash to be his friend because Crash is his only friend. I think Penn also wants Crash to be his friend because Penn just moved there and only knows Crash. Another reason Penn probably wants Crash to be his friend is because if Crash isn't his friend then Penn would probably feel lonely and sad because he would not know anyone else. If I was Penn, I would want Crash to be my friend because sometimes it is scary to make new friends.
    4. According to the book, Penn is different from other kids because Penn does not have a lot of toys. Also Penn is different from other kids because his family is vegetarians which means they do not eat meat. Another reason Penn is different from other kids is because Penn's family does not use or play with violent things. Lastly on Saturdays Penn reads or visits places because they don't own a TV.
    5. Based on the book, the events in the first eight chapters occur when Crash is starting first grade until he is in sixth grade. At the beginning of the book, it says, "I'm starting first grade this year." Then in chapter eight it says, "Two weeks into sixth grade..." So the events in chapters one through eight take place from first to sixth grade.

    3. Penn wants Crash to be his friend for lots of reasons. For one, Penn wants Crash to be his friend because Penn lives a few houses down, so it would be easy to play. For two, because Penn doesn't have any friends and he doesn't want to feel left out. Lastly, Penn wants to be Crash's friend because Crash is the only person that will talk to him.

    4. Penn is different from other kids because he wears a huge button on his chest. Another reason is that Penn is a Quaker. Penn is also different because he does not own a lot of toys. Lastly, Penn is different because he is an only child.

    5. The events in the first eight chapter occur when Crash is starting first grade. The book informs us that it's from Crash's perspective when he was in sixth grade. I know that because in the book, it said, "The summer of first grade, seven years ago." The first eight chapters occur when crash was in first and sixth grade.

    3. Based on what I read, Penn wants Crash to be his friend for a few reasons. First, Penn doesn't have any friends. That is one reason why Penn wants Crash to be his friend. Last, later on, because Crash didn't want to be Penn's friend, Penn found dorks and nerds to be friends with because he didn't have any other friends.

    5. Based on the book Crash, the events in the first eight chapters occurred in the first chapter and the eighth chapter. In the first chapter it occurred when Crash said "I am starting first grade this year." Then in chapter eight he said "Then 2 weeks into sixth grade..." That shows the events from the first chapter to the eighth, Crash goes from first to sixth grade.

  7. 3. According to what I read I think that Penn wants Crash to be his friend because Penn just moved there. Penn would also want Crash to be his friend because he is all lonely. If Penn had no friends he would be very sad. Penn would also have no fun because Crash is the one that is keeping Penn company.

    4. Penn is different than other kids by only having one toy, most kids have a lot. For instance Penn is a vegetarian and he eats stuff that sounds weird. Penn is also different by wearing a button on his shirt all the time. One of the buttons had the word peace on it.

    5. The author wrote that the events that happened in the first eight chapters occur when he is in first grade. The text in the first chapter said,"I'm now starting first grade. In the eighth chapter he started sixth grade. I know that he is in sixth grade because the book stated,"two weeks into sixth grade".

    3. Why does Penn want Crash to be his friend?
From what I read Penn wants Crash to be his friend for a lot of reasons. Penn wanted a friend in the neighborhood so he could hang out. I think he also wanted Crash to be his friend because he needed someone to protect him. Crash is the first kid that Penn met when he moved to Pennsylvania. I don’t think that Crash will ever become friends with Penn.

4.How is Penn different than other kids?
Penn is different from other kids in many ways. One way is that he only has one toy and most kids have lots of toys. Another reason is that Penn is a vegetarian and he doesn’t eat meat. The last thing that makes Penn different from other kids is that he is a Quaker and doesn’t do violence.

5.When do the events in the first eight chapters occur?
The events in the eight chapters occur over five years. The events with Penn and Crash start the summer before first grade. At the end of chapter eight they are in sixth grade. There are a lot of things that happen between Crash and Penn during this time.

    (3) Why does Penn want Crash to be his friend?
The reason Penn wanted Crash to be his friend is because Crash can protect Penn Webb from anything if he gets hurt or has a bad injury. When Penn Webb moved all the way from North Dakota to Pennsylvania the first kid Penn saw was Crash. When Penn first met Crash,Crash was being a bully to him. Penn just wanted a friend in the new neighborhood. Penn Webb wants to help Crash become a better friend instead of him just being a bully to everyone. Crash and Penn are the same age and both in the first grade. I want Crash to stop being a bully and for them to become real friends.

    (4) How is Penn different than other kids?
Penn Webb proves that he is different from other kids because all the only toys he has are a wagon from his great great great grandpapa and mud from the Missouri river. He really loves and cares about these two things. Penn is also a Quaker and he doesn’t believe in violence even with water guns. Penn and his family are vegetarians which means that they don’t eat meat. Finally, Penn is named after the Penn Relay because of his great grandpapa.

    (5) When do the events in the first eight chapter
    occur?
The first eight chapters occurred over five years. It began the summer before 1st grade. Penn Webb and Crash Coogan start 1st grade together. Chapter eight ends with them in sixth grade with Penn Webb still calling Crash Coogan, John Coogan. A lot happens in the first eight chapters.

    3. I think there are four reasons that Penn wants to be Crash’s friend. First Crash is the first person Penn met in Pennsylvania, Second Penn is in a new town and Crash is the same age.Third Crash has a lot of toys and could help Crash become nicer. Forth Crash can protect Penn from bullies like himself and gust wants a friend.

    4. From the reading I know that Penn is different in multiple ways. Penn is a Quaker so he does not believe in violence even with fake things like water guns. Penn is from a different state (North Dakota) and has one toy, an old conestoga wagon. Penn is also a vegetarian which is a person who does not eat meat like ham, birds or any type of animals. Penn’s great grandfather named Penn after the Penn Relays in Pennsylvania. Penn if also different because he wears buttons.

5.In the first eight chapters Penn and Crash met the summer before they started 1st grade. Crash does a whole bunch of races and challenges against Penn. Crash goes to dinner at Penn’s house and they have vegetarian food. Penn and Crash grow apart during these chapters. Penn gets nerdy friends like him and Crash has the same old life. Chapter eight ends with them in sixth grade when Crash ments Mike.

Penn wants Crash to be his friend because Penn is new, so it’s a new world to Penn, and since Penn is a bit weak, so he would feel safe if Crash was there to protect him. Penn also needs someone to be friends with. When Penn moved from North Dakota, Crash was the first and only kid Penn met. Crash is the same age as Penn, too.

Penn is different from other kids, because he has only 3 special things, which are his turtle, toy wagon, and a pretzel tin that is full of “Healing Mud” from the Missouri river.
Also, Penn wears silly buttons, gets clothes from a thrift store, is vegetarian, and doesn’t have A TV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Penn is weak, lives in a garage, is from a different state, and is a Quaker. Penn is also named after a famous track meet, not like most kids.

Based on what I read, the events in the first 8 chapters occur during the summer before Crash starts first grade up until the sixth grade. He steals Penn’s buttons. Penn wants to be Crash’s friend, even though Crash is instead friends with Mike. Crash pulls pranks on Penn.

    3. I think Penn wants to be Crash's friend for many diffrent reasons. One reason might be that Penn has no friends. I think he may be lonely. He is an only child. He kept coming to see Crash even when Crash showed signs that he kind of wanted him to go away, such as when he flipped over Penn's pet turtle and rode off. Another reason could be that he wants everybody to be his friend. He wears all these big, happy buttons that say things like "peace" on them. He smiles a lot and whistles as he walks around.
    4. Penn is different than most kids. One way is that he is a vegetarian. His parents say that animals are God's pets and that you shouldn't eat God's pets. Instead of eating hamburgers he eats oatburgers. Another is he is a Quaker. A Quaker is a person who does not believe in war.Crash found out that he was a Quaker when he would not squirt him back in a squirt gun fight.
    5. The events in the first eight chapters start in the summer before the boys go to first grade. Then there is a time leap to sixth grade. In sixth grade, Crash meets Mike. Mike is a lot like Crash because he enjoys pranking.

    1. Based on what I read the reasons that Penn wants to be friends with Crash is because Crash is good at a lot of things such as running because he has never lost a race. One other reason Penn wants to make some friends is because he just moved in to the neighborhood. Also because Crash is Penn's neighbor and if they where friends they could see each other every day.The last reason is because Crash has a lot of toys.
    2. According to the text Penn is different for three reasons. One he is a Quaker which means he does not believe in war or violence. Two he wears weird buttons all the time. Last because he barely has any toys.
    3. Based on what I read the events from chapter 1 through 7 and the first half of chapter 8 are all the summer before first grade. The second half of chapter 8 is about middle school. Based on what I read the summer before first grade was seven years ago.

#3 Penn wants Crash to be his friend because he just moved there. Penn is probably alone and bored. Crash is the first kid that Penn met. They live down the street from each other.
#4 Penn is different than other kids because he wears buttons. He is the only Quaker that Crash knows. Crash was surprised that he only had two toys. Penn and his family are poor and lives in a garage.
#5 The events in chapters 1-7 begin the summer before first grade. In the first part of chapter eight the story skips to the third grade. In the middle of chapter eight it jumps to the sixth grade. Mike Deluca moved across the street from me two weeks into sixth grade.

  41. 3. Penn wants Crash to be his friend because Crash is the only person he knows, he is very lonely because he just moved there and Crash is his new neighbor.
    4. Penn is a Quaker, he only has two toys, he wears pins on his shirts all the time and lives in garage. This is why Crash thinks Penn is different from everyone.
    5. Chapter One begins before first grade and the Eighth Chapter ends in sixth grade. I know this because Crash says he remembers seeing Penn the summer before first grade seven years ago. In the Eight Chapter Crash writes to us telling us he met Mike Deluca two weeks into sixth grade.

  42. 3. Based on what I read, Penn wants Crash to be his friend because he just moved into the neighborhood. He does not have any friends to play with. Crash and Penn live close together so they can play together everyday. Penn also wants to be friends with Crash because they are the same age and both going into first grade.

    4. According to the text, Penn is different from other kids because he is a Quaker. Penn is also a vegetarian. In Penn's house, there are no televisions. Crash also thinks Penn is different because his family has family dinners every night and Crash's family hardly ever eats together.

    5. The book begins in the summer before Penn and Crash enter first grade. Chapters one through seven are during this time. Chapter eight begins when Crash and Penn are in middle school. They are starting sixth grade.

  43. 3. Why Penn wants John who is also known as Crash to be his friend is because Penn just moved in and had no friends there so when he saw Crash in his yard he wanted to be friends.

    4. Why Penn is so different than the other kids is because he is a Quaker: a person who doesn't believe in war, he wears a pin on his shirt that says something different every time, and he only has two toys, the reason that's weird is because one is a jar of mud.

    5. When Penn wants to become a friends with Crash is in summer when they were both in first grade, when Crash figures out Penn is so different from other kids is the a few days after they met.
